Bernard Newgrosh

Bernard Newgrosh is a medical practitioner in the north-west of England. A founder member of the Society for Interdisciplinary Studies, he edited their publications SIS Workshop (1982-1990) and SIS Review (1987-1995), and contributed to them, sometimes under the pen name, “Brendan O’Gheoghan”. He has also contributed to Kronos, and the ISIS publication, Journal of the Ancient Chronology Forum (JACF), co-editing JACF 7 and editing the final JACF 10. He is the author of the book, Chronology at the Crossroads: The Late Bronze Age in Western Asia (2007).

On Velikovsky

Newgrosh writes:

“Again, it is a minority who interpret myths and ancient texts in terms of global catastrophes. Notable among their number was Immanuel Velikovsky, who (like Donnelly and Bellamy before him) believed that the ancient records told the stories of terrifying global catastrophic events. His critics have never been convinced by his arguments, claiming that his interpretations were inferior to their own, which usually involved no global catastrophe.”[1]Bernard Newgrosh, “The Case for Catastrophe in Historical Times”, Kronos Vol. XI No. 1 (Fall 1985)

In his 1994 conclusions of the 2nd SIS Conference, Newgrosh writes:

“The scale, the eras, the agents behind the historical catastrophe events proposed by Velikovsky – all are questionable, and all are being questioned. Over the years some of his specific proposals have been proved wrong.
